Vocabulary Verbs

Something I find interesting: English verbs that take specific objects.

Verbs such as "eat" use types of objects, such as "edible things/foodstuffs". But I'm talking about verbs that traditionally use only one or two different objects, even though other objects would make sense logically. Some example verbs that I can think of, and their 'default' objects:

  • contemplate - the meaning of life, suicide
  • transact - business
  • tender - a resignation

Does anyone have any other examples?

    Bicycle - a bicycle.
    Fiddle - (with) a dial.
    Deposit - sperm.

I was going to say "fuck," but people fuck all kinds of shit.

    Is this a family-friendly blog?
