The Autist Formerly Known as Tadbot

As a preminder, the ADA prohibits employment discrimination against qualified individuals with disabilities.

New: I am now a father, so you may call me ‘Dadbot’ if you’d like. However, I’m keeping this domain since dadbot.com has been taken by a cybersquatter.

Old: I might have Autism Spectrum Disorder, but haven’t been officially diagnosed as such; however, several people who have professionally worked with autistic children have suggested that I might be on the spectrum. I have behavior/mannerisms that I used to consider to be simply ‘idiosyncratic’ behavior; in retrospect, these could be indicative of being Spectralâ„¢:

  • Difficulties with social interaction: I have trouble with social cues, lying, and making friends
    • Unique communication in general: despite learning languages (including Klingon), I don’t tend to socialize; I focus on details, including proper spelling/punctuation/grammar
  • Physically sensitive: ever since I can remember, when putting on my socks, I’ve folded the ends so that they don’t bunch up under my toes; I avoid jeans and other tight-fitting clothing; I’m unusually sensitive with my hands/fingers, and don’t like extremely short fingernails
  • Repetitive/routine/obsessive behavior: organizing/cleaning (computer files, books, laundry, dishes); facts/trivia; numbers; proper spelling/grammar; planning/scheduling; my ‘exercises

Additionally, I experience ASMR. Although ASMR hasn’t been directly correlated with ASD as of yet, it does share the same first 2 initials; this obviously shows they are related somehow.  </sarcasm></strong></em>
